The world's biggest festival of democracy, the Indian General Elections 2014, concluded on the kind of crescendo that surprised even the most well-heeled poll pundits.A sense of sheer optimism generated by the overwhelming mandate in favour of the new Indian government reverberated around the world, with the UK at the core of this worldwide enthusiasm.India Inc's latest edition of the Indian Investment Journal is an attempt at exploring what this new beginning for India means for the depth of the India-UK relationship. The tone was set right away when British Prime Minister David Cameron became the first world leader to tweet out his congratulations to Narendra Modi. An invitation for a visit to Britain followed soon after in his official call with the newly-elected Indian PM.The groundwork has been laid and now it is time to get to work on achieving the true potential of this international bond. This edition - titled 'A New Dawn for India: What Does It Mean for UK-India Business ' - brings together foreign policy experts, political commentators and business leaders to lay out their vision of just how this “new dawn” will pan out in the coming years and what are some of the key areas of focus. From what degree the UK will feature in the new government's world view and what steps need to be taken to tackle India's fiscal crisis to how India and the UK can explore new frontiers like Africa, this journal is aimed as a true collector's item. We hope it will become a touchstone for the future as one of the world's most dynamic economies moves in sync with one of its closest economic and political allies as it finds its way back to double digit growth.Issues of mutual concern, such as retrospective taxation and stalled infrastructure projects, are addressed by our experts against the backdrop of Mr Modi putting together his ministerial team which will be charged with the task of tackling some of these challenges head-on."Hoping to further strengthen India-UK relations" - was his Twitter response to Cameron. And, the coming months will begin to reveal just how much further the relations can strengthen.
